Motor Trail Day Two
Ravenswood to Charters Towers.
After what was a big night for some (the band played on until midnight) we enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and received our daily briefing. Team P7 was allocated 300 points for not losing any of the kids on day one ...!

Our trip notes began with a loop through some of the old mines and smelters just outside town and then took us down the blacktop to the Burdekin Falls Dam and Lake Dalrymple. Here we enjoyed a great morning tea prepared by the Ravenswood P&C - each bag containing our packed lunch had been hand-decorated by the school children of Ravenswood..
The planned route was to take us over the dam wall and on a loop around the Lake, however recent rains still see the Dam at well over 100% so Plan B called for us to blacktop it back for a great lunch at the Mingela Pub. The Fat Bastards On Tour even provided the entertainment for the kids with their roadside Jumping Castle.

After lunch we hightailed it into Charters Towers to run a few errands and prepare for the Mining Industry Ball that evening.
Tracy stayed back at the motel to mind the Darmody and Abell kids, and I headed off to the Ball. It was quite an affair with a mix of people in black tie, cocktail dress, and period costumes. It was certainly a big event in the Charters Towers Calendar.
Today's Stats:
250kms
Diesel 169.9c in Charters Towers (and you can not buy an automotive relay on a Saturday afternoon).
