Motor Trail Day Six

Julia Creek to Karumba.

The morning started with a feed at the Country Club, then a trip around to the Julia Creek Hotel. Odometers zeroed, and we were away ...

Our first leg took us through some cattle and property tracks up to the Million Acre Liamora Station. A magnificant morning tea was waiting for us, alongside the lagoon. A few of us managed to spot the resident freshwater crocodile, but apparently noone got him on camera.

Moving on to Iffley Station for lunch we passed through more station tracks and encountered our first Road Trains for a couple of days. These can be interesting on such dry dusty roads, but thankfully the excellent radio work by our fellow 'trailers' meant that there were no nasty surprises and everyone travelled safely.

At Iffley a presentation was made to the Mt Isa School of the Air, for their continued work with the local kids with Autism.

It was Team P7's turn in front of the camera for the WIN TV Documentary, which was filmed on the great grassy oasis at Iffley Station. One of the station hands fired up the compressor for a spot of air filter cleaning; I'm sure that the P7 Nissan was about 3kg lighter after 30 seconds of compressed air ...

After lunch we headed on to Normanton for a fuel stop and then on to Karumba for Barra and Prawns on the BBQ for sunset.

All in all, an excellent, but long and dusty day.

Daily Stats:

Diesel 180.9c at Normanton
